Regarding the collection, use, and security of data

New Notions collects certain information from you when you visit or or use its services. This document outlines what information is collected, why we do so, and how we use it. The information we collect includes;

  • feedback you leave and your email address, if you submit feedback through our contact page or signup to our email mailing list

  • your name, email address, and sometimes postal address if you purchase a product, an event or workshop ticket. New Notions does not store card details. Payments for these bookings are processed through Stripe’s secure, PCI-compliant payment processing system.

  • website browsing information, through Google Analytics and cookies. You cannot be personally identified through this data.

The information we collect helps us;

  • understand how our services are used.

  • make improvements to our website and the services and products we offer.

Sharing it

We do use other companies services to process ticket bookings (Picatic), to process payments (Stripe), to manage customer relationships (Airtable), to send email marketing (Mailchimp), and to collect website user information (Google Analytics).

We may sometimes share anonymised personal information in strictly limited ways with other organisations, particularly British Film Institute/Film Hub NI. We only do this to analyse our audience development programmes, ticket sales and funding to understand the impact of the public investment made in New Notions.

We never share data you provided us with event partners. We provide our customers with the ability to opt in or opt of our mailing list.

Where your data is stored

Data collected on our website is stored on servers around the world. By using you agree to this. While we take every measure to protect our site visitors, transmitting data over the Internet can be insecure. Any data you transmit is at your own risk.

To make sure we’re at the top of our game, we reserve the right to update this privacy policy without giving you notice. We will make sure that the most recent policy is always available on this webpage, so you can check it out whenever you like.

You are entitled to view, amend or delete your personal information that we hold. Email your request via our contact page.

Ticketing Policy

Your rights and ours regarding buying live event tickets.

  • Tickets are sold as digital tickets.

  • New Notions reserves the right of admission.

  • New Notions reserves the right to, in unavoidable circumstances, alter the programme without prior notice.

  • By buying a ticket or attending an event at New Notions, you give your consent to being filmed, audio recorded or photographed. Should an event be recorded this will be signposted at entry. If you have any objection then please make yourself known to staff. No cameras or recorders of any description are allowed in the auditorium.

  • Screenings start approx. 5 minutes after the advertised times. We do not show trailers. Tickets cannot be purchased after the screening start time.

  • Pre-booked tickets can be redeemed if the screening has commenced, however latecomers will be seated by staff to minimise disruption to other members of the audience. New Notions reserves the right to not admit latecomers and to resale tickets after the screening has started.


  • Tickets cannot be returned or exchanged other than in exceptional circumstances.

  • Refunds will only be issued in the event of a performance being cancelled. You will be contacted in the event of a performance being cancelled or if there is a major change to your chosen performance.

  • In exceptional circumstances New Notions may issue a complimentary ticket at the same value of the ticket bought.

  • Under no circumstances will a complimentary ticket be issued for past performances.
